Alabama Slammer is a classic cocktail belonging to the 70s. You can call it one of the OG’s because it really does look and feel like an OG of its era.
The drink tastes tangy and sour with a little bit of sweetness and this taste combination is more than enough to warrant yourself a glass.
As you can see in the name, this drink used to be consumed as a shot drink and hence slammed. But in recent times, the highball version of the same is getting popular, probably because people wanted to enjoy its taste sip by sip and have it last longer.
The cocktail was said to have originated in the University of Alabama and hence the name too.

Tips To Make Alabama Slammer
✅ People have always been skeptical about Southern Comfort (also called SoCo). You never mind. The classic version always used SoCo. But if you can’t find it, use a Bourbon (adds more sweetness) or a high quality Whiskey.
✅ Sloe Gin is a Gin based on Sloe berries. Find a high quality drink that is made from real Sloe berries.
✅ As always, use freshly squeezed orange juice for better results.
Variations Of Alabama Slammer
There have been several variations to this drink – one strong reason behind this is since the drink was invented in University of Alabama, students started making this with whatever drink they had in their hand – all they want to do is bring a drink to the color Crimson RED that resembles their flag.
In one variation, Grenadine is used along with Amaretto and SoCo and it replaced Orange Juice with Lime Juice.
Few other versions used different types of Whiskey instead of SoCo.
Whatever changes you make in the brands won’t make much of a difference, I would think so!
