The drink was said to be invented in 1970’s in British Virgin Island and the original drink kused Pusser’s Rum only. Even now, the trademark Painkiller drink on any bar menu should use only Pusser’s Rum.
But if you are making this one at home, of course you can have any quality Dark Rum if you can’t find Pusser’s Rum.
Of course, Painkiller drink is easy to make and very refreshing to drink. Although we are not sure why it got its name, this drink is not strong enough to knock you down. However, it is a great drink to have by the pool or a beach on a summer evening.

Tips To Make Painkiller Drink
✅ As mentioned, the traditional Painkiller uses Pusser’s Rum, but if you can’t find it, try using any aged Dark Rum.
✅ Use Cream of Coconut and not Coconut cream. Cream of Coconut is sweetened syrup while Coconut cream is unsweetened straight out of Coconut milk.
✅ You may actually play with the Rum part of the drink. Try mixing two dark rums and you will end up with a different combination, though the cocktail itself will still taste better.
Variations Of Painkiller Drink
Absolutely no specific variations to this already trademarked Cocktail drink. However, you may choose to change the quantity of the ingredients. And there you can reduce the amount of Pineapple juice and increase the amount of Rum.
On the other hand, you can still use Coconut cream but it is not as thick and rich as the Cream of Coconut.
